ROI Checker: “Applying Network Science to Detect Brand Advocacy in the Restaurant Industry”

ROI Checker is an artificial intelligence commercial application under development that aims to optimize the way brands influence patrons with marketing initiatives.

ROI Checker and the Human Nature Lab at the Yale Institute for Network Science are currently collaborating on expanding knowledge about dietary behaviors in social networks. Traditionally, brands have broadly targeted patrons with different marketing initiatives with the expectation of inducing their consumption. With the advancement and availability of new social network knowledge, approaches, and tools, it is now possible to design marketing interventions that aim at improving the group experience of patrons. One initial longitudinal analysis of a dataset showing group consumption shows complex network interactions and evolution over time. Mr. Wall and Mr. Borda will explain their work with the ROI Checker platform and their initial results in detecting brand advocacy using social network analysis. Additionally, they will share the details of the dataset being used by the Human Nature Lab to give attendees an opportunity to think about what insights can be garnered from this dataset.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Lucas E. Wall is the CEO and Founder of ROI Checker. Lucas has 15+ years of experience working for Fortune 500 companies in a variety of markets. He is originally from Argentina and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary.

Roberto Fernandez-Borda is the co-Founder of ROI Checker. He received his Master’s degree in Physics in 1996 and his Ph.D. in Physics/Applied Physics in 2001 from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been involved in projects with the Max Planck Institute in  Germany, as well as the National Research Council, NASA, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County, in the United States.
